Katahdin Adventure Co. specializes in professionally organized trips into the Maine Wilderness.
A trip on Katahdin involves very strenuous hiking, climbing, and potentially hazardous conditions for those who are unprepared. For this reason, we only offer fully guided trips for Katahdin and we inspect each client’s day-pack, to ensure you have the required items, before departure.
Appalachian Trail Hostel & Outfitters is the closest dedicated hiker service to Baxter State Park, providing lodging, shuttle service, equipment rentals, and food supply for our trips.

For 2024, we only have one Katahdin trip planned, which is our 3 Day Knife Edge Loop trip.

Booking Info
Our rate starts at $400 for a guided solo hike and increases by $200 for each additional participant.
All trips depart from our location, in downtown Millinocket, at 5:45 a.m. All participants must arrive to our location by 5:15 a.m. for a pre-trip safety check & briefing.
Trips include transportation from our location to the trailhead, lunch, and an experienced Registered Maine Guide.
A parking reservation is needed to gaurantee access a Katahdin trailhead. These can sell out weeks in advance, making last minute trips difficult to accommodate.
There is a required “packing list” that will be sent out with your booking. If you do not have all of the items on the packing list, you can rent or purchase them directly from our Outfitters. The packing list is non-negotiable and the guide will not allow you to participate in the guided hike if you are missing an item. This is for the safety of everyone involved in the guided hike.
Weather is unpredictable. Rain or shine we hike. However, if the guide deems weather conditions to be unsafe, the hike will be stopped or rerouted, at the guide’s sole discretion. If the forecasted weather presents potentially hazardous conditions, you will be notified and given the option to reschedule, subject to availability. We do not offer refunds due to weather.
